Like “Rhythm in Thirds,” this piece has a 1-2-3 pattern in the segments going left to right. But “Trebling the Bass” also has a change in relief elevation, like that in “Floating Spiral” (put link to Floating spiral). So the “ones” are deep, the “twos” are medium, and the “threes” are high. The 1-2-3 pattern is arranged on a diagonal rather than horizontally, like on “Rhythm in Thirds”. This creates a dramatic spiral effect, most evident from above, that seems to sweep the piece upward.
