Song of Songs: Erotic Love Poetry
Wm. B. Eerdmans Publishing, 2003.
Capturing the inherent longing expressed in this book of the Bible, my illustrated version of the Song of Songs was inspired by and references traditional love poetry and art from India. For more information visit gardenenclosed.com or Amazon.com.
In the summer of 2011 the magazine Sufi featured an interview by Llewellyn Smith with Judith Ernst and Prof. Vasudha Narayanan on Love, Passion and Divinity that discusses the Song of Songs and traditions of Indian love poetry.
The Golden Goose King
Parvardigar Press, 1995.
This an an illustrated version of one of the Buddhist Jataka tales, one of over 500 such stories told by the Buddha. While it is a shortened version of the tale and was aimed at a children’s book audience, it’s a straight-forward retelling of the story based on the earliest written versions in Pali.
