I guess I had stormy weather on my mind when I made this and its companion piece, Hurricane. “Rain Bands” refers to the colored bands that the meteorologists use to tell us how close we are to the various severe parts of storms, especially thunderstorms and hurricanes. This piece has carved lines following the outlines of the repeating shapes. When glazed, the lines show up as green echoes on some edges and disappear into the thick glaze on others.
