Another early piece, I made this after coming back from spending 5 months in Malaysia. The ocean in this “metaphysical pot” is based on the curling waves seen in decorative motifs in wood carvings, textiles, and ceramic works from that part of the world. I’ve always loved the shape and the simplicity of this piece, and especially the slightly iridescent quality of the rust-colored glaze. It has a black Mexican river rock fitted to the opening at the top.
